Gender Fluid Books will STAY in the Children’s section- says Library Acquisitions Manager
Just a reminder that on July 11, 2023, in commissioners court, the commissioners and judge (our ELECTED leaders) ruled for all gender confusing books to be moved to the adult section.
The fiction books teaching gender fluidity won’t be going anywhere at all.
The non-fiction children’s books teaching gender fluidity will be moved to the parenting section. A win? Nope.
Just a reminder that on July 11, 2023, in commissioners court, the commissioners (our ELECTED leaders) ruled for all gender confusing books to be moved to the adult section. This recent decision, ultimately made by librarians (according to library policy), is a direct violation of the commissioner’s ruling.
These books are CLEARLY remaining in the children’s section, on a low shelf for easy access to CHILDREN.
The author of the response letter was tagged in a post with the following cartoon:
Here is the first letter:
I ran across our library Acquisitions Manager, Andrea Yang on social media:
This shows Ms. Yang’s obvious bias.
The picture books addressed in the letter above:
What about the chapter books?
No change.
What’s in these two chapter books?
How to find adult trans activists on the internet.
Make sure to erase their search history so parents won’t find out.
Changing your gender is your right. Parents shouldn’t be able to stop you.
If you’re angry (struggle with anger issues) it might be because you are actually trans.
You can dig into these books on these posts:
You can also read them for yourself at the library, you will find these books in the children’s section with Beezus and Ramona by Beverly Cleary and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Ronald Dahl.
Where do we go from here?
Because of the new commissioner court rules, we cannot address this issue in court unless it’s on the agenda. Please call your commissioner and ask him to put this on the agenda for January 9th and once monthly until this issue is resolved.
Script if you need one: “Hello, my name is ____, and I am a concerned citizen in precinct ___. I recently learned that the decision made by the commissioners to move gender confusing books to the adult section has been overruled by unelected librarians. I would like to respectfully request that Commissioner ___ put children’s library content on the agenda for January 9th and continue to do so once monthly until this issue is resolved. Thank you.”
Here is the map, so you can find out what precinct you are in.
