Mission Statement
In Montgomery County, TX, we advocate for age-appropriate books in age-appropriate hands. This includes advocating for children’s books with alternate gender ideology to be moved to the adult section with restricted check out. Children who have not yet gone through puberty should not be concerned with sexuality or sexual attraction at all.
We also advocate for balance in the library. This is achieved through placing conservative and Christian’s books in the public library. While we were able to find Christian and conservative books in the adult section, we were not able to find this balance in the children’s section when we first started advocating. Since then, we have been able to place BRAVE Books and quite a few Christian children’s titles. The commissioners also recently agreed to add additional vendors, which we are really grateful for. This allowed for the Tuttle Twins (conservative children’s books) to be ordered by our library system to be placed in our public libraries.
Two Moms and Some Books started with two homeschool moms, but one mom moved on to focus on other things leaving one mom, Michele Nuckolls. She was soon joined by many moms, dads, and concerned citizens across Montgomery County who also wanted to look into the public schools. While most articles are written by Michele Nuckolls, one of the original moms, some are now written by concerned friends. Like the Federalist Papers, articles may be written under a pen name. All authors are local.
Why subscribe?
Never miss an update by subscribing! In our substack newsletter we update the public about the public libraries and public-school libraries in Montgomery County. We encourage all conservatives to use the libraries because libraries cater to card holders. In order to have influence, we need to be members. You can find our post about ways to utilize the libraries with the many amenities here.
We also report on concerning books we find, library policies, changes, wins and recommended actions. We are currently challenging a few books at a time because we want to learn from our mistakes. Books can only be challenged once a year, so it’s important to take our time and learn from the process.
We are NOT for book banning.
We have the following recommendations for concerning books:
1. Move the concerning books to the adult section with a restricted checkout for adults over the age of 18.
2. Label all books of concern that are not moved to the adult section.
3. Make all books in question restricted for checkout only by adults over 18.
4. Place all children’s books in question in the adult section or on a high shelf out of reach of small hands.
Remember that Mein Kampf by Adolf Hitler and The Communist Manifesto by Karl Marx are both in the libraries. The difference is that these books are in the ADULT section. Books remind us of where we have been, and where we never want to go again. This is where all of the alternate gender ideology books should go.
