One Step at a Time, A Petition
In this substack we will explain why we believe a petition could be successful and provide ways you can sign the petition.
In our last substack we shared about the Montgomery County Memorial Library’s Materials Selection Policy which can be found here: Home - Policies - New - Montgomery County Memorial Library at Montgomery County Memorial Library (countylibrary.org)
Section 6 of the Materials Selection Policy in the 3rd paragraph states,
“Some materials are considered because of widespread or local demand.
In addition, as the social and intellectual climate of the community changes, material which originally was not selected for purchase may become of significant interest. Such materials will be reevaluated on a continuing basis."
We could send everyone over to the library website to request each book, but that wouldn’t be as fun. Please still do that though. You can request books here: Home - Suggest a Purchase - Montgomery County Memorial Library at Montgomery County Memorial Library (countylibrary.org)
Meanwhile, we have a petition.
Petitions are exciting because you can count the numbers, rally, and build comradery.
(EDIT TO ADD ELECTRONIC PETITION: We now have a Jotform petition that allows you to sign electronically. This is just as good as signing in person. The link is here: https://form.jotform.com/230616206895156
Please share this petition all over Montgomery County!! Please also pray! Thank you so much for helping make this effort a success.)
There are two ways you can sign our petition, in person and online. We prefer in person, and we will have several public meeting spots this month for you to be able to sign our petition in person, in your area. If this does not work for you, please sign online. If you might not be able to sign in person, go ahead and sign the online petition, when you sign in person, let us know there is a duplicate signature.
First, we will explain how to sign in person.
If this doesn’t interest you, please scroll down to the online petition link. Also, it helps if you are a library card holder, so please make it a point to pop over to any library in Montgomery County with your driver’s license and sign up for your card. It’s free! (Well, not really, we all read the Tuttle Twins, so we know how this works.) Also, you must be a resident of Montgomery County, Texas to sign our petition.
If you are a local business owner and you would like to have our petition available in your establishment for your patrons, please reach out to us. You can call or text us at (936) 228-1989.
We will be visiting different areas of Montgomery County on the following dates with our petition in hand.
Please stop by on your lunch hour. It will only take a minute. You will find us by our American flag accessories. We will bring Brave Books and Tuttle Twins Books for you to look through as well. If you already signed the online petition, please just let us know, and we will remove the duplicate.

Finally, our digital petition.
Here it is:
Electronic Library Petition (EDIT: We replaced the go-petition with this link because the go-petition was very confusing with all the ads, and many people were having trouble with it. If you signed the previous petition, you will still be counted, and that petition WILL remain live.)
Please Share!
More to come…
In the meantime, in this season of Lent, we fast and pray.
Since I am not in Montgomery County, would my signature on your petition be worth anything?
