A Special Thank You
As an addendum to Wednesday’s post, we have a special thank you to Brave Books. We also wanted to share why we think their work is important, and how we can support them.

When Brave Books invited regular people like us to join them in the story hour movement, I thought this was a bold move. Who knows what kind of shenanigans we could get into, and we have… As a result of Brave Book’s decision to include regular moms like us, we have gotten over sixty new Christian books into the library and now, we have Brave Books on order for every single library in Montgomery County!!
This Brave Books order was made possible largely in part by the incredible generosity of Brave Books. We want to extend a very special thank you to the following heroes:
Trent Talbot, CEO (Trent wrote the book, Chaos in the Canopy, which we read at our first story hour.)
Zach Bell, Chief of Staff
Cooper Bell, Head of Sales (You may have met Cooper at our first local story hour in January.)
You have been an incredible blessing to our community. We cannot adequately express our gratitude for the investment you have made in our community and our children’s future. When we had our first story hour in January, moms told us that they want to share your wonderful books with their children, but new books were, unfortunately, not in their budget. Now, with your generous contribution, your wonderful books will be available to every family in our community. Thank you!
Why we believe the work, the men and women at Brave Books are doing, is important.
The radical left has a plan, and while we were enjoying holidays with family, enjoying our children, and working hard at our jobs, they planned and implemented a strategy to get their ideas into books sold to our libraries and schools. Woke ideology, sometimes subtle, sometimes obvious, seems to be permeating most recently published books our kids are picking up at our local libraries.
Interestingly enough, these publishers are not publishing books that tell the traditional story with the conservative Christian values our country was founded on. When I looked to see what books, on the other side of the gender issue, we could ask to be added to the library, there wasn’t much to be found. Brave Books, as far as we can tell, may have been the first when they came out with, Elephants are not Birds, their brilliant antidote to the book, Itty Bitty Kitty Corn.
There are plenty of Christian books with Bible Stories rewritten for young children, but when it came to tackling today’s issues that our children are being faced with, what Brave Books is doing, is truly unique. We could not find any books tackling the issues head-on in the way Brave Books does with the engaging storyline and exciting illustrations. Our kids ask us to read them over and over again.
In the back of each book are games for families to play with discussion questions to talk about the issue at hand. Now when we talk about current events around the table, our kids jump in with, “Like in the book, The Parrots Go Bananas!?” My husband and I look at each other, our kids really get it!
How can we support the work of Brave Books?
Subscribe: Join the Freedom Island Book Club!
(Just to be clear, Brave Books did NOT ask us to talk about this. We believe in what they are doing!)
When we subscribe, we are supporting Brave Books publishing new books. They publish one book a month, and you will receive it in the mail as soon as it’s released. Along with your first book, you will receive a map and stickers to follow the adventure.
My kids ask to check the mail OFTEN when they know a book is soon to be released. They cheer and gather around holding the book in the air! I snatch it and say, “pick up the house, and I’ll read it to you.” My house is CLEAN in no time, and we sit down and share it together. My kids are on the edge of their seats, eyes wide the whole time. These books have everything an adventure should have, real heros, struggle, adversity, encouragement, and triumph!
Don’t have kids? You know someone who has kids! My parents gifted us our subscription, and it was the best Christmas gift EVER. By purchasing a subscription, you are investing in our children’s future, the future of our country.
Oh, I can’t forget, we have a promo code from a local pro-life non-profit, Life First!
You can find out more about Life First by visiting their website: lifefirst.org (They have some really exciting student activities posted too!)
